The wait is finally over. Google and Samsung have just announced the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the latest addition to the Nexus family. The Galaxy Nexus will indeed run on Googles newest operating system, Android OS 4.0(Ice Cream Sandwich).
Specs wise. the Galaxy Nexus spots a 4.65-inch HD Super AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 resolution, a 1.2 GHz dual-core processor, a 5 megapixel camera in the rear with LED Flash, zero shutter lag, and 1080p HD recording, a 1.3 megapixel front-facing camera, Bluetooth 3.0, 32GB of internal storage, and USB 2.0.  This device also features an embedded NFC module, an accelerometer, a compass, a gyro, a proximity sensor, and interesting enough a barometer has also been included. There is an HSPA+ model of the Galaxy Nexus as well as an LTE version, which will be available in certain regions.
The Galaxy Nexus will be hitting North America, Europe, Japan and the rest of Asia in November.
The only carrier they mentioned at launch was Japans NTT DoCoMo. So the new Nexus status on U.S. Verizon and whether it will be an exclusive there is still unclear. And knowing that Google and Samsung cancelled Oct. 11th U.S. launch and moved it to Hong Kong there might be something funny going between them and Verizon.
