Fast forward to the present and now the same group of Belgian newspapers is claiming that Google is not playing fair for excluding them from the search results. They are saying that it is okay for them to be included in the search results page but not on the Google News page.
According to Google, it sees Google web search and Google News search as a single function and this is the reason why the Belgians are excluded from every Google search. This is true because the Google News page is just an organized landing page of the Google search page.
Google should make it clear to the Belgians that their exclusion from the search results was the result of their own actions and not a vendetta against them. Google just complied with the court ruling and filtered them from the searches.
The Belgian newspapers should have not sued Google in the first place. They could have asked the search giant to exclude them from its Google News service. Everyone would be happy. Be instead, they sued Google and the company had to pay a fine.
