Acer Iconia Tab A100 Android 3.2 Honeycomb-based tablet with a 7-inch display has just become available.

The first US store to has it in stock is SuperBiiz, selling the Iconia Tab A100-07U08U (XE.H6RPN.002) model with 8GB of storage for $334.

The 0.5-inch thin 0.9-pound tablet sports the Nvidia Tegra 250 dual-core 1GHz processor paired with 1GB of RAM, 1024 x 600 resolution on its capacitive multitouch screen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, a 2MP camera on the front, and a 5MP camera on the back.

Regarding ports and slots, there are a micro HDMI connector, USB 2.0 and micro USB 2.0, and a Micro SD/ Micro SDHC card reader.

According to the specifications, the battery life of the included 2-cell unit is up to five hours.

The A100-07U08U has a blue glossy lid with an interesting design which consists of white curved lines.

It's been a long, long time since we first clapped eyes on Acer's Iconia Tab A100 tablet. The company unveiled the slate last fall, at a special event in NYC, and showed it off again at CES. It was scheduled for launch in May but delayed due to compatibility issues with Honeycomb. Since then, Acer hasn't exactly been itching to tell us when the 7-inch A100 is going to hit stores.

Today, things changed. Engadget cites an anonymous tipster in reporting that an email sent out to Acer retail partners says the tablet will launch in August (which, in case you hadn't noticed, starts on Monday). The A100 boasts Nvidia's Tegra 2 chipset, a 7-inch 1024�600 display, 512MB RAM, 8GB of internal storage and Google's Android 3.0 (aka Honeycomb) OS.

The A100 joins the A500, Acer's 10-inch offering that launched in April of this year. Word on the street is that the A100 will retail for $300. The A500 currently retails for $400 on Newegg.

AT&T announced that it would carry the Acer A501 Iconia Tab 4G back in March. Since then, however, the only other thing that we heard about the AT&T-bound A501 was that it may also get a version with 64 GB of internal storage space.

The A501 Iconia Tab has become available in the UK in the meantime, but there was still no sign of it in the US, until today.

Amazon has started taking pre-orders for the tablet, and it asks a pretty cool $499.99 for it (you also get free shipping). Now considering that this is a full-fledged 10.1-inch Android Honeycomb tablet and that it comes with '4G' support, that's a neat price. Unfortunately, the well known retailer does not currently list a projected shipping date for the Iconia Tab. So if you want to be among the first to have one, you're going to have to pre-order it without knowing when it will arrive at your doorstep. An inconvenience, yes, but for Android tablet fans everywhere it may just be a risk worth taking. You decide.

Finally, after being pulled out of its May release due to compatibility issues with Honeycomb, the Acer Iconia Tab A100 gets its availability and price details. According to an e-mail sent out to Acer retail partners, the 7-inch Honeycomb tablet will be available in the market around early August with a suggested price of $300. The tablet is considered the little brother of Iconia Tab A500, which was released in April, featuring a Tegra 2 processor, USB 2.0 port, 16GB of storage and WiFi connectivity.

Acer also offers a pair of new Aspire notebooks: the 15.6-inch 5750Z and the 17.3-inch 7739Z, both priced at $475 each. Both laptops features 4GB of DDR3 RAM (upgradable to 8GB), 500GB of storage, and Intel Pentium processors.

The story of Acer's first 7-inch Android-powered tablet has certainly been an interesting one. The Acer Iconia Tab A100 was announced back in February alongside the Iconia Tab A500 and the Iconia Smart phone/tablet hybrid, yet it still isn't sold anywhere.

As a matter of fact, in May we heard that the Iconia Tab A100 was delayed until the second half of the year. We naturally assumed that it would probably be launched just before the famous holiday season, but last month Walmart's pricing of the device leaked and it looked like the A100 would be in stores soon after all.

Yet from that point another month has passed and there's still no sign of it. However, according to an email sent out by Acer to its retail partners today, the Iconia Tab A100 will be in stores in early August with a recommended retail price of around $300. That's even cheaper than the aforementioned leaked Walmart pricing ($349), and this price point makes this one of the most interesting tablets to date.

In hindsight, it's pretty clear now that the Acer Iconia Tab A100 was delayed because Android Honeycomb wasn't really ready to be put on tablets with resolutions lower than 1280�800 before version 3.2 that came out a couple of weeks ago. Like other manufacturers, Acer was probably just waiting for this particular version of the OS to become available in order to ship the A100 running it.

So if you're in the US of A, you'll be able to purchase a Honeycomb-running 7-inch Android tablet in a few weeks, and for quite cheap.

The Acer Iconia Tab A501 might be getting an internal memory bump very soon, especially when you take into consideration the FCC Permissive Change notice concerning said device. Apart from an increase of its internal storage capability to hit 64GB, we are also looking at changes made to include new touch and image sensors.

To put it in a nutshell, these changes, when introduced alongside the 64GB Acer Iconia Tab A501, would make it the largest capacity of all Android-powered tablets right out of the box without requiring the help of an external memory card of sorts. At last, the 64GB iPad 2 which is on AT&T as will the Acer Iconia Tab A501, will finally see a potentially worthy rival. What do you think? The 10.1-inch Acer Iconia Tab Android-powered tablet comes in two versions, the A500 which is Wi-Fi-only, and the A501, which also features mobile data connectivity. The most widely spread internal storage capacity for both models is 32 GB, but we recently saw a 16 GB model launch in the UK.

And now it looks like Acer is prepping to add yet another storage capacity option, to the A501 at least. An Acer Iconia Tab A501 with 64 GB of storage has recently passed through the FCC. The A501 was announced in March by AT&T, so this particular model is probably headed to that carrier at some point in the future.

Unfortunately AT&T has yet to unveil an exact release date for the tablet, or any pricing information, so all we can tell for sure right now is that the carrier may get more than one Iconia Tab A501, and that the 64 GB model will (obviously) be more expensive than the 32 GB version. The offer will go on as long as supplies last. You'll be able to buy the 10.1-inch Android Honeycomb tablet for just $400. But wait, there's more. You'll also receive a $50 Target gift card, which will effectively make the tablet's price a mind-blowing $350.

That's by far the cheapest we've ever seen a Honeycomb tablet go for, so needless to say that if you're in the market for such a device, this is one deal that you shouldn't miss. At this price, even if you weren't sure whether you should get an Android tablet or one powered by another operating system, you should probably consider the Iconia Tab.

A couple of days ago, we reported that the Android 3.1 update for the Acer Iconia Tab A500 had apparently started rolling out in the US. That was pretty much on time, since Acer previously said that the update would be available on July 5.

And it looks like the update has also rolled out in Canada. Acer Iconia Tab A500 owners have told MobileSyrup that they have received and applied the update already.

In the US, updating wasn't all smooth sailing, with several people reporting either getting older software (still newer than Android 3.0, but not 3.1) or getting their devices bricked. That includes one of our commenters. So be careful. Of course should anything happen, it's clearly covered by warranty, but you will lose a few minutes, hours, or days, talking to Acer support and getting things fixed or getting a replacement.

Before Google gets round to releasing Ice Cream Sandwich, the next version of Android which will be one and the same for both tablets and phones, there still are updates coming in for Honeycomb, the company's current tablet-optimized OS release.

Such is Android 3.1, the minor update to Android Honeycomb that was announced back in May during Google's annual developer conference. Since then, this update has made its way onto the Motorola Xoom, the Asus Eee Pad Transformer, and we've heard that the Acer Iconia Tab A500 may start receiving it starting on July 5.

And even if perhaps missing that exact date, Acer seems to be delivering around that time frame. According to Android Police, Acer Iconia Tab A500 owners in the USA are already seeing the update pop up on their tablets. Undoubtedly, more markets will follow. Unfortunately, it isn't all smooth sailing, as some users are only getting updated to Android 3.0.1, which is (obviously) an older version. Still an update to 3.0, but not Android 3.1. At least that's what GottaBeMobile is reporting.

So at this point we can only say that an update to Android 3.1 for the Acer Iconia Tab may be on its way. Some have received it already, and if you haven't, it's probably coming. Since this is an over the air update, what will happen is that the tablet will notify you about the update. You then choose to Install it (right?), at which point your Iconia will download the update, then reboot and apply it. That's it.

Not many Android-powered tablets at the moment run on Android 3.1, with most of them being on Android 3.0 Honeycomb. Well, that's not too much of a loss, as it does not mean the tablet experience is gimped in any way. After all, Android 3.0 Honeycomb is a tablet-specific operating system, and Google has done quite a good job on it. Acer, however, feels that their German friends deserve nothing but the latest in their overture of rolling out an Android 3.1 update for owners of the Acer Iconia Tab A500.

Representatives from Acer Germany have already left a bunch of comments on Facebook, touting that the rollout will be done in phases from today onwards. If you happen to fall under this special category across the pond, be patient � your update is coming in due time if it hasn't done so already.

As for those of us living Stateside, we're sad to report that no official word has been issued from Acer concerning an update. Still, we don't think this is strong enough a reason to pack up your bags and migrate.

We've heard people talking about the existence of a smaller 16GB storage version of the Iconia Tab A500 Android tablet for some time, but have only just found an official listing for the thing. Retailer Comet now has the newer Iconia on sale for �349, which is a nice �100 chunk less than the launch price of the original 32GB model.

So if you don't mind having half the media storage space�

�you could do worse. The Android 3.1 update for the A500 is floating about as well, so it's a bang up to date piece of hardware. Link via Into Mobile.

Acer has decided to launch a new version of its Iconia Tab A500 Android Honeycomb tablet in the UK. The only difference between the new model and the �old' one is the integrated internal storage space. The new tablet has 16 GB, whereas the one already on the market has double that � 32 GB.

That obviously means that Acer is able to sell the 16 GB version for less, �100 less in fact. The recommended retail price for the 16 GB Iconia Tab A500 is just �349.99, making it �50 cheaper than the equivalent, 16 GB iPad 2 from Apple. And while �50 isn't that much really, the lower price may help Acer's tablet make some inroads into the market, where Apple's products are perceived as either �premium' or �the norm' (specifically in the case of tablets), so having a more expensive tablet than Apple isn't a great sales strategy.

Acer seems to have understood that, so that's cool. The 16 GB Acer Iconia Tab A500 is now available in the UK.

This new Acer Iconia Tab A500 has, aside from the 16 GB of internal storage space, a dual-core 1 GHz Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, a 10.1-inch 1280�800 capacitive touchscreen, a 5 MP autofocus rear camera with LED flash and video recording, a secondary front-facing 2 MP camera, 1 GB of RAM, a microSD card slot, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, and a (rather disappointing) 3260 mAh battery.

The Acer Iconia Tab A500 is one of the more interesting Android Honeycomb tablets on the market, primarily because it's quite affordable, at least compared to some of the competition (cough, Xoom, cough). While perhaps not being the cheapest 10-inch Android tablet, that award probably being snatched by the Asus Eee Pad Transformer in most markets, Acer's first effort is a good one nevertheless.

Back in May we heard that the Iconia Tab A500 would get updated to Android 3.1, the latest version of the tablet-optimized fork of Android, sometime in June, alongside the Eee Pad Transformer. The update for the Asus tablet has already started rolling out, but so far there was no word from Acer on what's going on � after all June is almost over.

So today the company's German arm decided to post an update about the update on its Facebook page. It turns out that Acer Iconia Tab A500 tablets will be updated to Android 3.1 on July 5, at least those bought in Germany. It's unclear at the moment if this date is also when a European rollout of the update will begin, or perhaps a global one. We'll let you know more as soon as we do.

What we do know right now is that, as expected, the update will come over-the-air, and as such your tablet will notify you that the update is available, at which point you can download and install it.

Leaks are extremely commonplace these days simply because there are so many ways to capture an image of a particular device or perhaps even the inventory system screenshot before a particular device is released. Today, we will look at the Acer Iconia Tab A100's pricing, where it has appeared over at Walmart for $349 a pop. The sticker itself more or less gives the game away, where 349 clams will net you Tegra 2, 8GB of internal memory, a 2-megapixel front-facing camera that is accompanied by a 5-megapixel rear camera, and Android 3.0 Honeycomb as the operating system of choice. That's definitely a huge plus point over the majority of the other 7? tablets that run on the older Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

OK, so no actual Acer Iconia Tab A100 was actually spotted at Walmart, but a price tag and description should suffice, no? The Iconia Tab A100's launch was delayed supposedly to further tweak its Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system for the tablet's 7-inch display, but without so much as a peep from the company is the slate ready to hit shelves? The tablet recently passed through the FCC, a quick pit stop along the way to store shelves where good ol' Walmart will have the thing for $349. No accompanying listing on the retailer's website has us questioning if the Iconia Tab A100 is really here, but that won't stop us from being excited at the prospect.

The 7-inch Honeycomb-running Acer Iconia Tab A100 just got priced at Walmart, which is more than a bit odd. First of all, because the tablet itself is still nowhere to be seen in Walmart stores � it's just literally the price (tag) which is getting all the attention today.

It's also strange because last we heard anything about the Iconia Tab A100, it was supposedly delayed until the second half of the year. Now that may, of course, mean that it will launch in July (since that is after all in the second half of the year), yet we assumed that meant later in the year � as manufacturers usually release stuff closer to the end of their projected time frames.

But, if Walmart hasn't priced the Iconia Tab A100 by mistake, it certainly looks like the Iconia Tab A500's little brother is bound to be released soon, at least in the US at Walmart. And that $349 price seems about right, considering what you get for it: one of the first 7-inch tablets to run Android Honeycomb, a dual-core 1 GHz processor, two cameras, and 8 GB of internal storage space (expandable via microSD cards).

March saw the announcement of the Acer Iconia Tab A501 from AT&T, which is actually the 3G-enabled model of the Acer A500 tablet. Needless to say, Acer is not going to skimp on the operating system, ushering out the latest Android 3.0 Honeycomb version (hopefully with Android 3.1 to come in the near future). Well, the Iconia Tab A501 has already gone through the motions over at the FCC, where it will support AT&T's GSM 850 and 1900 bands, in addition to WCDMA II and V bands. So far, FCC test reports have pointed towards support for HSUPA and HSDPA protocols also, but there was no beep about HSPA+.

AT&T is working on a roadmap to roll out the A501 sometime in the second quarter of this year, so we should be able to see the A501 in a couple of weeks' time unless Acer screws up their delivery calendar. There is no word on pricing yet as at press time.
