Google Tests Sticky Search Box And Navigation Bar

Google is testing a design tweak that would keep the search bar at the top of Google.com as well as the side panel at the left with the search options to remain in their place when the user scrolls through the search results.
It is a simple design change but could be helpful for people who want to scroll through a long search result page. It would not be a surprise if this comes out of the test and becomes an actual feature. Or maybe Google would incorporate it into Google+ to keep the notifications and share box on the screen at all times. This could make sharing content more simple while on Google.

At present, the interface is actually being used on Google Image Search, which features infinite scrolling. It could mean that infinite scrolling could be on its way to regular search results. First page rankings would still be boosted by the feature but it could also help those in the second and third pages because users dont need to click to go to another page to see them. Scrolling down is much easier than the current system being used. With the side bar fixed, the searchers dont need to go back up the page to change the search options.
