Like also previous Kohjinsha model, SH610B locates 7 inches screen which able to be turned around 180 degrees so closing its keyboard. But compared to previous version, SH series screen now can reach higher resolution (1024x600 pixel) and its screen display is more contrast because LED-Backlit from Samsung. You would easy to see the screen display even gets strong light from outside. SH series also has 1,3 MB resolution Webcam which is good enough for video chat.

As its operating system, Kohjinsha planted Windows Vista into SH series. Surely user will get new experience with this operating system, but in our opinion the processed in UMPC is faster if using Windows XP because mobile processor like Celeron model is not the correct choice to implement Vista. Besides, when we setting the battery to "Power Saver" mode in Vista, this device performance felt so slow.

Compared to SA series (with AMD processor), SH model has better keyboard response with input delay can be more lessened. Besides touch access via pen stylus, the existence of mouse click button and scroll at near of screen is also makes SH series more comfortable compared to SA series. Navigation tools also more complete through addition of program execution, enter, screen rotation and display brightness menu button.

Applies SH610B for office and Internet application of course pleases especially if at outside room. Keyboard and display characteristic of course is pertained mini but still be comfortable compared to other UMPC which smaller. SH Series also has a facility to make fan rotation more quietly even we thing is not too useful at UMPC type gadget.

To see how far the performance of SH610B hence comparing it with SA1 series which we have tested clearly precise. From score obtained seen that the combination of Intel A100 processor and DDR2 memory is faster compared to previous model. The performance ought to be faster and battery energy is more economized if use Windows XP because Vista tends to spend bigger power. Very mobile consumer will fit in with Kohjinsha which offers high mobility and fully equipped input as a UMPC.

Principally, e2 has 5 inches screen, equipped by integrated keyboard, and easy to connect to network through Bluetooth and WiFi. Its weight is less than 500 grams, makes it is portable to accompany your business activity.

This gadget also easy to grasped because its figure is only 14x8,5 cm. But when this device shifted to release its keyboard, broadness reaches 14x12 cm. By good computing ability and portability, OQO e2 promises great computing experience in anywhere. But the high price of course makes this product is hard to buy. The price not even far above than other UMPC, but also comes near of upper class notebook price. Finally, OQO e2 only suited for you which really place forward the portability (and of course have lot of money).

Raon Digital Everun L30H: A Bare-Bones Mini PC

Chief Executive Officer OQO, Dennis Moore, says that the launching background is the increasing of UMPC request in market. “The customer wants to access the information, application, and Internet in mobile which fit in pocket, handbag, or office bag”.

The model e2 looks precisely the same as the model 2, which is not a terrible thing. We think its way smarter than the alternatives from Sony, Samsung and Asus, but you may feel differently.

The e2 which having dimension 142 x 84 x 26 milimeters is equipped by wireless Internet connectivity and bluetooth. Its computing ability supported by VIA processor 1,5 GHz, 1GB RAM, 60GB and 80GB harddisk, plus video out HDMI feature, ethernet and USB port, and dock for optical drive (CD+RW or DVD+RW).

The e2 is equipped by shift screen LCD with 5 inch width, with 800 x 480 pixels resolution and integrated keyboard. e2 is available in three models, starts from which having processor 1,5 GHz to 1,6 GHz.

My favourite thing about e2 is the mouse input system. It has a trackpoint-style mouse nipple between the QWERTY and numerical keypads and selector buttons on the far left.

Like the model 2, the e2 arrives with an HDMI port. So you can attach it to an external display or a TV. The onboard 127mm (5-inch) display has resolution of 800x480 pixels. Don't even think about using it outside, it's so glossy it's nearly impossible to see anything but your own reflection.

Just like model 2, the model e2 ships with an optional 32GB solid state hard drive. The 60GB 46mm laptop hard drive option is still available, as is a new 120GB drive. As before, it is padded and has drop-detection technology.

If you have the model 2, maybe you not so interesting with model e2. If you're looking for a new UMPC however, it's perhaps one of the best solutions. It's more expensive than the Samsung Q1 Ultra and Asus R2H, but it has better battery life, is more compact, more stylish and its keys are comparatively easy to use.

The U810 has a neat twist: Its screen rotates 180 degrees like a convertible tablet. At 6 by 6.7 by 1 inches (HWD) it’s a bit large, but that permits a relatively spacious 5.6-inch screen. The small laptop keyboard provides the best typing experience of the crop,

The feature set is solid, including SD and CompactFlash readers, one USB 2.0 port, a fingerprint reader, a webcam, and Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capability. Still, the U810 has limitations. While I had no problem uploading photos, encoding video took forever. I would like to see a backlit keyboard on the U810 (finding the minuscule keys is hard enough even in broad daylight). Also, the U810 lacks an integrated WWAN (EV-DO or EDGE), which the OQO, Sony UX and Vulcan FlipStart all have.

The U810 has a 40GB hard drive. Its 800-MHz Intel processor and 1GB of RAM are sufficient. These low-powered components let the four-cell battery sticking out of the back of the unit crank out a decent 3 hours 13 minutes of battery life. Fujitsu is a big player in Japanese UMPCs, and thanks to an attractive price, it should make a splash in the U.S as well.

First, the upside. This 1.1-pound device is the essence of portability. Its long battery life makes it a good traveling companion, and it’s one of the most affordable UMPCs on the market. But its keyboard is unwieldy, and its extremely low-powered processor and measly 512MB of RAM render it fit to run only the most basic applications.

At 3.3 by 6.7 by 0.9 inches (HWD), the Everun fits into a coat pocket. It has an attractive 4.8-inch widescreen, but the built-in QWERTY keyboard is poorly designed, with keys that are way too small to be very productive.

There are two mouse buttons and a touch sensor, but they’re oriented at right angles to the keyboard; consequently, although you navigate in landscape mode, you must flip the UMPC to portrait mode in order to type. At least the Everun has an accelerometer that detects the unit’s orientation and adjusts the screen image accordingly.

The Everun lasted nearly 4 hours while playing a DVD movie, despite its puny 26-Wh battery. (Dynamism.com, the main North American distributor for Korea-based Raon Digital, offers an optional battery that it claims will last almost 11 hours.) The trade-off for such prodigious battery life is an extremely low-powered AMD Geode processor. That and 512MB of RAM consign it to running Windows XP and not much else-maybe an office app and a Web browser- at any one time.

The Everun does include 802.11g wireless and built-in Bluetooth, with A2DP support for stereo headset. The model I tested had a 3OGB, 1.8-inch hard drive. A solid-state drive can be had for an extra $1OO, but it holds only 6GB.

The Raon Digital Everun is a bare-bones UMPC, best suited for a traveler with the lightest of computing needs. Windows Vista? Multitasking? Fuhgeddaboutit. At $799, the Everun is arguably the most affordable option. But if you want a UMPC, you’re better off springing for the OQO model 02, even at twice the price of the L30H.
