New iPad 3 Coming

We recently heard rumors that Samsung plans to introduce a new Galaxy Tab with a stunning 2560x1600 display in February. However, it seems Apple might also planning a tablet launch in February of next year.

According to the latest speculation from one Citi analyst, Cupertino is preparing to show off the iPad 3 in just a couple of months' time.
Analyst Richard Gardner made the revelation in a new research note spotted by Business Insider. According to BI, Gardner cites 'several sources' that say the iPad 3 will launch in February with a resolution that is double that of the current iPad. Gardner's note adds that there doesn't seem to be any significant technical hurdles remaining that would prevent a launch early next year.

Back in October, it was reported that Apple was having trouble producing a retina display for the iPad 3. According to a CNet news story , manufacturers had so far only managed to produce screens with a 2,048x1,536 resolution for 264 pixels per inch. The iPhone 4 display, on the other hand, clocks in at 960x620 and 326 ppi. Though 264 ppi is not quite retina display quality, it's still twice that of the iPad 2, so it's nothing to scoff at. However, the concern is that manufacturers can't make the volume of displays that Apple requires. If Gardner is to be believed, the challenge of producing these displays in high volumes has apparently been overcome.
Though February seems a little bit early for a new iPad (the last one was announced last March, which would make it slightly short of Apple's usual 12-month product refresh cycle), it would make sense, especially when you consider all of the quad-core offerings scheduled for next year. And, of course, let's not forget that Galaxy Tab 11.6 that will supposed boast a resolution of 2560x1600
