If youre one of the 3.7 million people who recently got an Android device activated over the Holidays, there is one thing you should know: how to improve your Androids battery life.
Theres no comparing having an Android device only consumes a small amount of battery. This is why people ask about the battery life of a new product about to be launched
in the market. However, did you know that there are some tips you can
Heres how you can improve the battery life of your Android device:

Adjust Screen Brightness

You dont really need to have 100% brightness on your Android screen. In fact, having really bright lights can be painful to the eyes. They are only helpful in extremely dark placesbut when youre using your phone, you dont really limit yourself to such places, right? So even if youre out on the daytime, you can set your phone to a certain level of brightness. You wont even have to worry about not being able to see your screen properly. Just simply adjust the brightness until youre comfortable and youre not squinting to see the text on your screen.
The brightness on most Android screens are differentiated per app and feature. You can adjust this by doing:
  • Go to Settings> About Phone> Battery Use.
  • Reduce screen brightness by going to Settings> Display> Brightness. When you reach this area, you can simply move the slider to the left. You can also check automatic brightness so you can determine which one best suits you.
  • You can also reduce your screen brightness by shortening timeouts. To do this, you will need to go to Settings> Display> Screen Timeout.
  • Another thing you dont really need is live wallpapers. Instead of having one, you can make use of a static photo and set it as your wallpaper. To change your wallpaper, simply long press on the home screen before choosing Wallpapers from your pop-up menu.

Switching Off Unused Networks

  • When not in use, switch off your GPS and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • Do the same for your Wi-Fi. If youre not really going to use it, just switch it off. Especially in areas where there isnt a stable connection, your device will keep locating a nearby Wi-Fi signal. Instead of searching for a data connection, just switch it off when you know there is none.
  • Switch to 2G. This is particularly true if you are in areas where there is not enough 3G coverage. Since you dont need to access internet, you can make use of this network.
  • Switch to Airplane Mode. Even if youre not in a plane, you can switch to this mode when youre not expecting anyone to call or text you. This can help save you when you have a low battery and youre nowhere near a charger.

Adjust Widgets

Adjust your widgets. Having access to your Facebook and Twitter account on your phone is great. But because they automatically update themselves in intervals, your battery can drain out. Do you really need to know that your friend had Macaroni and Cheese for lunch?
You can adjust widget update times by going to the settings menu of the app. Once there, hit the menu button> Settings> Notifications / Widget Update Interval. You can set the interval to a minimum of 30 minutes so you dont take up a lot of battery on updates. This is enough time for you to start missing what your friends updates are.

Get Help

You can also download JuiceDefender Ultimate or JuiceDefender to help monitor your Androids battery. With these apps, you can have an automatic tool that temporarily locks down the apps that take up a lot of battery.

Youll be sure that these tips will help save you when youre stranded somewhere and only have a few battery life left
