Finally India launched its tablet version Sakshat Tablet(The Indian iPad or Indian Tablet) for just Rs.1750 thats $35 laptop. Two years ago, India made headlines around the world when they announced that they are going to release their very own tablet PCs at a very, very low cost of $10. Many people were skeptical that they would be able to pull such stunt, as a $10 gadget of such complexity seems just utterly absurd. But, it was not too long before they came up with a more reasonable design that costs $35. The world was making fun Kapil Sibal announced the cheapest tablet, but now India has made it to the market. Even though the tablet is considered, by experts, to be a copy of the Chinese Hivepad tablet, such a low-price tablet has never been invented by the Chinese. Japan & China would be wondering now about Indias Sakshat Tablet.

Sakshat Tablet was supposed to be launched this June, 2011 after initial testing by Rajasthan IIT students. The estimated price of Sakshat Tablet was between Rs.1500 to Rs.2,200 as it was developed as a part of National Mission on Education through Information and Communication Technology to bring together 25,000 colleges and 400 universities in the Asian subcontinent in an e-learning initiative.

The devices prototype is likely to be a 5/7/9 inch touchscreen gadget, featuring a webb browser, PDF reader, video conferencing, open office, sci-lab, media player, remote device management capability, multimedia input-output interface option, and a content viewer.

According to PCWorld: The basic components like a processor, motherboard, memory, display, etc, however obsolete they might be, that go into a computer, would cost more than $35 even if you buy in millions of pieces, which the major manufacturers anyways do
