Sony plans to release PlayStation Vita, a portable video game player, on February 22 next year in the United States, Canada, and Europe, the company announced at a technology conference on Tuesday.
Vita is a next-generation PlayStation Portable or PSP, and PlayStation Go, a smaller version of the handheld device.
Vita, a touch screen device and has a touch-sensitive pad on the back.
Sony Computer Entertainment CEO Jack Tretton and spokesperson for Sony's PlayStation 3 game show popular so-called "Uncharted: Golden Abyss" is played on the PlayStationVita.
Players can use a standard controller or manipulate the character by using touch controls, as shown spokesman for Sony in the stage of Web 2.0 Summit.
The game looks very attractive - but when shown on the big screen, the resulting picture is not as sharp as a gaming console,CNN writes in his report.
Sony had earlier announced price Vita. Version that can be connected to the Web via Wi-Fi is priced 250 dollars and that connect 3G priced at 300 dollars.
His rival, Nintendo, cut prices deeply enough to 3DS portable system in just five months after launch when sales began to slow.
Analysts estimate that Sony had to fight hard to sell hand held game machine now because smart phones and tablets are reliable enough to run similar games.
One might glance at Vita when they want to level more than simple games that have been sold in the phone, said Tretton.
Vita will first present in stores on December 17 in Japan, where Sony's portable system has fared better.
