Jil Sander Launches WinPho Smartphone

Fashion label follows in the footsteps of Prada, Armani and Levi's.

German-Italian fashion house Jil Sander has ventured into the mobile market with its own smartphone in an attempt to strengthen its digital strategy.

The new LG device was designed by Jil Sander and will operate under Windows Phone 7.5, which premieres an exclusive Jil Sander app.

The firm claims the combination of the device user interface and the Jil Sander app allows a 'vivid interaction' with the brand.

Although fashion phones in the past such as Dolce & Gabbanahaven't exactly made the desired impact with consumers, Jil Sander thinks it can turn the tide.

Alessandro Cremonesi, Jil Sander Group CEO, said: "With this project we move a step forward completing our lifestyle world; and � with the precious support of our partner LG Electronics - we did it with a device that fully respects the highest brand quality standards that makes Jil Sander internationally recognised in the world of luxury�.

The phone features include:

* Windows Phone 7.5 with Internet Explorer 9

* 3.8" TFT/LCD touch screen

* 5MP camera

* 16GB memory

* Electric blue design

* Hardware acceleration

The phone will distributed through selected retailers in the UK, France, Italy Germany and Austria and is will available online from October 7th.
