The iPhone 4 is a mobile phone that measures extremely small, despite the huge amount of capability so that it hides within the metal and glass body. It is one of the first phones to use glass materials in the phone, which not only improves the looks, but also increases the durability and strength of the phone as well. The phone has a metal band running across the length and width of the phones, which forms the antenna. Even though this has been criticised in the past, all the problems with it have been corrected. The display is a 3.5 inch unit that certainly will not surprise you in terms of size, but will certainly do so in terms of the technology that it has within the edges.
It uses the retina display technology on the IPS panel, which is widely known for improving the viewing angle massively. With the viewing angle increased, Apple has focused on the task of improving the resolution of the screen, which has been strangely omitted by most of the manufacturers up until now. As a result of the retina display technology, the iPhone 4 boasts of a resolution around 960 x 640 pixels, which ensures the maximum detail within a certain area of the screen. This ensures that when you are viewing high-definition video files, you are unlikely to be disturbed by the lack of proper resolution on the screen. Further, the enhance the viewing angles mean that you can enjoy the movie or the video even with your friends.
The iPhone 5 is expected to build on all these features in the best possible way. Even though the increase of the resolution and using the latest generation IPS panel technology may seem cool, they actually are not going to produce a great amount of difference. It can be only created by increasing the size of the display in order to match the rivals like Samsung and HTC. All the phones from major manufacturers are now using displays of more than 4 inches in size, while Apple are still stuck with the 3.5 inch unit. The iPhone 5 will be the first proper phone to increase the display size, which seems to have been done by employing the edge to edge display technology. The iPhone 5 is slated for launch later in October, while the prices of the iPhone 4 could drop in the near future.
