FBI Child ID iPhone App Helps Parents Find Their Missing Kids

The Federal Bureau of Investigation is joining the app craze with a mobile app of its own, which aims to help parents when the unthinkable happens: Their child becomes missing. The Child ID app allows users to store their childrens photos and identifying information directly on their smartphones, thus making it easier to provide vital data to authorities in case a child disappears with or without a trace. The app can also be used to dial 911 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children with a simple tap of a button. It can even instantly send an e-mail of their childs details to law enforcement officials. The FBI assures the Child ID users that their data will not be collected or shared without authorization.
Early user reviews, however, find a single major flaw in the app: It is not password protected. Users may want to consider protecting the whole phone with a password to ease their worries.
The Child ID app is currently only available for iPhone, which can be downloaded for free on iTunes, although the bureau plans on providing the app to other mobile devices in the future.
