Nintendo 3DS Gets Slashed by $80; Current Owners Get Free Games

Dont look now, but another gadget is slashing its price. The much-anticipated Nintendo 3DS drops its price by up to $80from $249 to $169beginning August 12.
The move is not just a reaction to slow initial sales of the handheld console, which is attributed by several factors including the recent Japan earthquake and tsunami, but also as a preparation for the launch of Nintendo 3DS A-List titles such as Kid Icarus.
Current owners of the 3DS who felt cheated need not worry, as Nintendo is giving them 10 free NES games along with 10 free Game Boy Advance titles on September 1. That is, if they have logged into the Nintendo eShop before August 12. Great, now they have to retrieve their dusty NES and GBA from their attics.
Engadget also points out that Nintendo has downgraded its expected net profit from 110 billion to a measly 20 billion, which will allow them to sell 16 million 3DS consoles they expect to ship this year.
