HP TouchPad lacks document editing capabilities at launch

The HP TouchPad was first announced to include the QuickOffice document suite that allows you to view documents although HP did state that they were "working with Quickoffice to include the Quickoffice Connect Mobile Suite, which lets you view and edit documents, such as Microsoft Word and Excel." What does this mean? Well, eagle eyed readers might have noticed that there were basically no document editing demos at all where HP TouchPad videos released in recent memory were concerned simply because such a feature is not ready just yet.

It is safe to assume that the initial version of QuickOffice Connect Mobile Suite will support viewing of Microsoft Office Word and Excel documents, but when it comes to editing, you can more or less forget about it. QuickOffice however, is tipped to make PowerPoint viewing capabilities available at launch courtesy of a downloadable update in the App Catalog, alongside the inclusion of PowerPoint editing capabilities through a downloadable update in Q3 later this year.

Viewing documents on the go is one thing, but editing them? That's certainly money in the bank which most people would have expected to see right from the get go.
