A picture-perfect accessory for people who want to jazz up their wake-up time, this good-looking, ultraportable digital photo fame does double duty as an alarm clock.

Available in three colors, the wood frame measures 4 by 5 by 2 inches (HWD) and weighs just a pound, so it’s a snap to take with you. It’s powered by an AC adapter and features 128MB of onboard memory to store JPEGs.

Although there’s no adjustable brightness or contrast control, images look good on the frame’s small, 320-by-240-pixel, 3.5-inch TFT screen. You can choose to view photos in either a 4:3 or a 16:9 ratio, and you can set up slide shows with transition times of 5, 10, 30, or 60 seconds, even adding MP3s for musical accompaniment. The Digital Clock Viewer can display an analog or digital clock along with-or instead of-photos, hence its name. There’s also an alarm clock, but heavy sleepers should beware. The alert chimes for just 90 seconds, and there’s no snooze button.

The Digital Clock Viewer may not include fancy features, but it’s a smart fairly inexpensive choice for anyone who wants it frame that adds style as well as function.
