Panasonic Launches The New Lumix Dmc-zs20 Digital Camera

Panasonic has unveiled its latest digital camera will called the ZS20. Panasonic claims that this is the world slimmest digital camera that sports a 20 times optical zoom lens. The camera also has full HD video recording and integrated GPS. The lens is a 24 mm wide-angle unit allows you to get more people in the photo

Integrated GPS functionality allows the user to take images with GPS coordinates allowing the location where the photos were taken to be pin pointed and shared with friends and family via maps and photo sharing sites. The camera comes with a DVD that has map data on the disc that can be copied to the camera�s memory card to allow the user to get information on points of interest that are nearby.

The camera has a 14.1 megapixel resolution and uses a high-sensitivity MOS sensor for higher image quality. The camera can shoot bursts at 10 frames per second at full resolution. Video is recorded in 1080p resolution in AVCHD format. The rear LCD is a 3 inch Smart Touch LCD with 460,000 dot resolution. The camera has a number of touch features, including a touch shutter feature. The camera can upload videos via a USB cable to Facebook. Panasonic will sell the camera for $349.99 starting in March.

Facebook Timeline and Apps Turn Users Off with Over-sharing

Facebook Timeline and the Open Graphs �apps� are proving more turn-off than value-add to users, according to research by security firm Sophos and SlashGear, with many considering deleting their Facebook account after the recent profile changes.

Over 51-percent of Facebook users told Sophos they were �worried� by Timeline, which lists all your activity on the site in chronological order; meanwhile, 45-percent of respondents to a separate SlashGear poll said they might abandon the social network in protest.

Sophos surveyed around 4,110 Facebook users, and discovered less than 8-percent actually like the new Timeline layout. Just over 8-percent said they thought they would get used to it, while a third said �I don�t know why I�m still on Facebook.�

In SlashGear�s own survey, just 3-percent of over 5,800 respondents said they were keen to take advantage of the new Timeline Apps. 5-percent said they intended to �try a couple of Facebook apps� but over a fifth of respondents said they were yet to be convinced.

Neither poll is scientific in its methodology, though both suggest that Facebook Timeline and the Open Graph Apps � which allow users to pull in more personal data culled from third-party services, such as when they eat at restaurants, travel or exercise � are still viewed with suspicion. Facebook made the new Timeline profile layout mandatory and will be forcing users to upgrade over the next few weeks, though early-adopters of the beta have been using it since mid-December and soon discovered that there was no way of turning it off.

Facebook maintains that Timeline shares no more information than the previous profile system, and that the Apps are accessible on a voluntary basis.

Xbox 720 Set for Two Versions, 2013 Release, E3 Reveal

Microsoft France has revealed that there are no plans to release a brand new Xbox inside 2012, saying that they�re not �convinced� that the device we�ve been calling the Xbox 720 will be happening this year.

This information comes from the marketing director for Microsoft in France Cedrick Delmas interviewing with Lepoint and brought to us by Eurogamer. Delmas notes that the proof of this notion comes in the lack of a price drop in the Xbox 360 thus far, he then noting that the life cycle for the Xbox 360 is far from over.

In regards to how they plan on countering the oncoming release of the next generation Nintendo Wii console, still tentatively called Wii U, Delmas said that they weren�t there to fight Nintendo, and that they were simply on a different cycle from the other manufacturers. There�s nothing like a good console war, but it�s simply not time for a new Xbox to be released, basically. His translated words read like this:

�We�re in an industry that talks a lot, that likes telling stories. I am not convinced that things will happen this year. The Xbox 360's cycle is not over at all. The proof is that we haven�t price cut this year. Afterward, what will happen at E3, it�s still too early to say. What�s certain is that there will be nothing new in 2012. If we wanted to counter Nintendo, we would have to be in a position to release something immediately, and that is not at all the case.� � Delmas

Megaupload Host Denies Data Delete Ultimatum: &Ldquo;don�t Call Us�

Carpathia Hosting, one of MegaUpload�s server companies, has responded to US federal investigator suggestions that user data will be deleted from Thursday February 2, pointing out it has no access to any files and denying it supplied the cut-off date.

�Carpathia Hosting does not have, and has never had, access to the content on MegaUpload servers� a company spokesperson told us this morning, �and has no mechanism for returning any content residing on such servers to MegaUpload�s customers.�

Carpathia, along with Cogent Communications Group, were two hosting companies named in a report suggesting MegaUpload�s server agreements would run out before the end of this week. That could mean users� data � including legitimate files, rather than just copyright-infringing content � would be permanently lost.

The hosting firm suggests that �anyone who believes that they have content on MegaUpload servers contact MegaUpload� and says �please do not contact� the host itself. However, with MegaUpload�s notorious CEO Kim Dotcom under arrest in New Zealand, denied bail and awaiting extradition; the company�s bank accounts in lock-down; and the site itself offline, it�s unclear exactly who users should complain to.

We�re yet to hear from Cogent, though the assumption is that the response will be similar: like Carpathia, it has no access to MegaUpload data. According to the FBI, certain files expected to be used in the prosecution�s case were copied from the MegaUpload servers, but the machines themselves were not seized.

�In reference to the letter filed by the U.S. Department of Justice with the Eastern District of Virginia on Jan. 27, 2012, Carpathia Hosting does not have, and has never had, access to the content on MegaUpload servers and has no mechanism for returning any content residing on such servers to MegaUpload�s customers. The reference to the Feb. 2, 2012 date in the Department of Justice letter for the deletion of content is not based on any information provided by Carpathia to the U.S. Government. Sonyhas outed a trio of new Cyber-shot digital cameras, including a slimline flagship, the DSC-TX200V, and a pair of affordable point-and-shoots, the DSC-WX70 and WX50.

The TX200V measures in at a pocket-friendly 95.5 x 58.3 x 16 mm but still manages to fit in an 18.2-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor, 26mm 5x optical zoom and a 3.3-inch Xtra Fine TruBlack OLED touchscreen.

There�s also support for 1080/60p video recording, and up to 10fps full-resolution continuous shooting of stills. A speedy BIONZ processor is good for super-fast focussing, Sony reckons, as well as handling intelligent selection of which of the 36 difference scene modes is most suitable. That happens in just 1/30th of a second, Sony claims, with the TX200V automatically shooting two frames back-to-back in low-light or otherwise troublesome conditions, using difference settings for each, so that you can pick your favorite later.

Automatic background defocus, optical image stabilization and face detection, as well as a flash-pairing mode which uses two shots taken in rapid succession � one with flash, one without � to create a single frame that has the benefits of both, round out the key specs. Sony has also made the TX200V dustproof and waterproof to 16 feet.
