The second, and for most probably the better freebie, is guaranteed beta access to the next WoW expansion, called Mists of Pandaria.

The offer is open to any existing WoW player with a Battle.net account who live in the US, Canada, Singapore, Europe, Australia, or New Zealand. Your Battle.net account must also have a North American or European WoW region license to qualify and have been active before October 18th. However, it seems Blizzard is also willing to let you reactivate a lapsed or inactive account to take advantage of the offer.

As for the price, it’s the same as you would normally pay for a year of access in your region, but you can effectively knock the price of Diablo III off that to make this quite the deal for existing players or those wanting to return to old accounts.

This is a limited time offer so don’t take too long to decide to sign up. It may disappear when Blizzard have reached some predefined quota of players.

Once again, Microsoft has padded its revenue stream with an Android patent license deal. This time around, it’s Compal Electronics — another name you might not be familiar with, but it’s a very significant win for the crew in Redmond.

Like Wistron and Quanta, Compal produces devices for other companies — and they’re actually one of the top notebook manufacturers in the world. Compal recently announced that it was partnering with Lenovo to launch a joint manufacturing venture that would further strengthen its position as one of the industry leaders. They’ve also built devices for Dell, HP, Acer, and Toshiba.

In January of this year, Compal execs told the press that they expected to ship around 3.8 million Android tablets in 2011. With Microsoft’s deals typically running in the neighborhood of $5 per device, that’s a fair chunk of change headed back their way from Compal. The Compal deal is also noteworthy because it marks a big milestone for Microsoft: they have now secured licensing deals that cover more than 50% of all Android devices being produced — the Samsung, HTC, and Quantadeals you’ve read about previously helped them achieve that goal rather quickly.

Several days after it was leaked online, Samsung officially announces the pricing and availability of its Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus. The 7-inch Honeycomb-powered tablet is now available for pre-order at various retailers, with an expected retail availability beginning November 13. The 16GB version will cost $399.99.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, the fifth on Samsung’s line of tablets, features a 7-inch WVGA touchscreen display with 1024 x 600 resolution, a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 1080p video playback support, HSPA+ support, a 3-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and LED flash (as well as 720p video capture), and a 2-megapixel front-facing camera.

What is strange is that Samsung does not reveal the pricing of the 32GB model, although it was previously leaked with a $499 price tag.
